Founding Director of the Center since 2010. The Center's work has been recognized by the Obama White House, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the US Department of Treasury and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). John is considered an expert of the topic of personal finance and is often approached by the media, with more than 1000 media mentions since 2013. The Center is nationally known for its research, advocacy and middle & high school educator training efforts in the area of financial literacy. Prior to working at the Center, John was chief operating officer and chief legal officer at some of the largest asset management firms in the United States. John was previously Chief Legal Officer of Eaton Vance Corp., Chief Operating Officer & Chief Legal Officer of Natixis Global Associates and General Counsel of Funds Distributors Inc. John has also served as an independent director on the Sentinel Funds, and was Co-chair with the Vermont state treasurer of the Vermont Financial Literacy Commission created by the state legislature. John is currently an independent board member for the Transamerica mutual fund family.
